Fair Use Policy

Last updated: July 19, 2026

1. Purpose

Surveyee's Free plan includes unlimited surveys and unlimited responses — that stays true for every real user. This policy exists to stop automated abuse (spam, bulk scraping, storage stuffing) from degrading the Service for everyone else, not to meter or throttle normal usage. If you're a genuine user, you should never notice these limits.

2. Rate limits

To keep the Service available and prevent spam submissions, we apply the following per-IP request limits to unauthenticated, public-facing endpoints:

  • Submitting a survey response: 30 submissions per minute per IP address.
  • Uploading a respondent file: 20 upload requests per 5 minutes per IP address.
  • Loading a published survey (view tracking): 60 requests per minute per IP address.

If you exceed a limit, you'll get a temporary "too many requests" response with a short wait time attached — it's not a ban, and normal traffic resumes automatically once the window resets. These thresholds are set well above what any legitimate respondent or embed would ever trigger.

3. File uploads

File-upload questions accept images, PDFs, plain text and CSV files, Word and Excel documents, and common audio/video formats (MP4, MP3, WAV). Other file types are rejected.

  • Free plan: up to 10 MB per file.
  • Paid plans: up to 500 MB per file.

Each survey also has a generous total-storage ceiling, well beyond anything a real set of respondent uploads would reach, that exists purely as a backstop against storage abuse. You won't see it in any dashboard because no legitimate survey should ever come close to it — it's there so a single survey can't be used to host unrelated files at scale.

4. Prohibited uses

Regardless of plan, you agree not to use Surveyee to:

  • Collect personal data illegally or without a lawful basis (including in violation of GDPR).
  • Host or distribute malware, phishing content, or other malicious payloads via file uploads or survey content.
  • Run automated scripts that scrape, bulk-submit, or bulk-create accounts or surveys outside normal human usage patterns.
  • Circumvent, or attempt to circumvent, the rate limits or storage limits described above.
  • Resell, sublicense, or white-label the Service without our written agreement.
  • Conduct security testing against Surveyee's infrastructure without prior written authorization — see our Security page for how to report a vulnerability instead.

5. Enforcement

Requests that exceed a rate limit are throttled automatically and temporarily — no action is taken against your account for this alone. Sustained or deliberate abuse, or any of the prohibited uses above, may lead to a warning, temporary suspension, or termination of your account, as described in our Terms of Service (sections 4 and 6).

6. Need higher limits?

If you have a legitimate high-volume use case — a large-scale event registration, a high-traffic embed, or bulk file collection — email [email protected] before you hit a wall. We'd rather talk to you than throttle you.
